Clueless About College
Tim shares his feelings about choosing a college

My life is in shambles. I have no clue where I want to go anymore. College used to seem like such an easy choice. But now I seem to be sitting at a fork in the road that goes fifty different directions and has no signs. When I was young, my college of choice was the University of Alabama. I was set on going there and gave no preference to anyone else. This year, my parents are encouraging me to apply elsewhere also. I haven’t put up much of a fight since my brother now goes to Alabama and I have started to think of going someplace where I am unknown.

I started out just applying to Troy State University. I was quickly accepted and given a scholarship that covered four years of tuition, books, and rooming expenses. By the time I had gotten my letter of acceptance back I was interested in a different college, Purdue University.

Purdue grabbed my attention after I talked to my boss. He gave me a list of colleges that have good computer science programs. I researched them and came up with Purdue, his alma mater. I can’t believe how appealing I find Purdue.. I knew they had a good computer science program and the band is supposedly pretty good. I assume they have a school newspaper that is student run also, but now I can't find anything to support my assumption.

The other week, I attended College Day at Faulkner State Community College. I basically ignored most all of the colleges there. I have decided to go to Purdue and that is final. Well, I thought it was final. I went back into the gymnasium to waste some time before lunch and to try and get some free stuff. While wondering around, I came across the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). I filled out one of their demographic cards and handed it to the attendant.
